For Argentina defeat Germany in World Cup for a third time

Diego Maradona's goal: For Argentina defeat Germany in World Cup for a third time
Argentina will face Germany in Saturday's World Cup quarterfinal, and coach Diego Maradona is all too familiar with the Germans.
Maradona played in four World Cups from 1982 to 1994, winning the trophy in 1986 and reaching the final in 1990 -- both times against Germany.
"Diego has gone through every experience possible in football, and that helps us a lot," said current Argentina standout Javier Pastore. "If you've got a doubt about something or a question, he knows what to say."

THE OTHER SIDE: Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger had harsh words for quarterfinals rival Argentina.

"You could see their behavior at halftime against Mexico. When you look at their body language and gesticulations, the way they try to influence the referees, they have no respect. It's their mentality and character, and we'll have to adjust."

BRIEFLY: Elano will not play for Brazil in Friday's quarterfinal against the Netherlands because of a right ankle injury, a team doctor said. ... ESPN is keeping broadcaster Martin Tyler for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Tyler, whose brother-in-law lives in the Detroit area, is regarded as one of the top soccer announcers in Britain.
